ADVANCED, EXPERIMENTAL VFX ANIMATION AND TECHNIQUES.
Blog, WK#1 (Jan 6)
The major issue for this 1st wk of term #2, way back in the wk of Jan 6, was the submission of our projects from 1st term.
Otherwise, for the original Adv Exp VFX Animation and Techniques course, there were originally 4 basic assignments, due June 19, 2020. These included a collaborative video project, a personal video project, a research blog, and a thesis proposal, and these were not due until the end of the 3rd term.
Because the end of Term 2 found the world welcoming the arrival of covid, the structure of the Adv, Exp VFX Animation and Techniques course has been partially modified. The revised requirements for this term are as below. Because UAL Summer 2020 Term 3 has been reformatted due to covid, some of the continuity for the Adv, Exp VFX Animation and Techniques course is partially disrupted, but since we still have meetings w Aldo, the two term structure of the original course still partially exists. During Term 2, I had already allocated substantial time to preparing entries for the blog component of Advanced, Experimental VFX Animation and Techniques course. And, that blog effort is (correctly) included in the blog for Adv, Exp VFX Animation and Techniques (and not in the Collaboration Research Blog) and accordingly labeled week 1-10.

Nuke Term #2, First Class
In contrast to Term 1, Term 2 will not involve any Maya. The first assignment for Nuke involves identifying footage that allows for practice of roto-scoping skills. As below, I plan to use zombie footage from my first music video brain film.
Nuke De Novo Pipeline Efforts
From the first semester, upon critical self reflection, in terms of efforts for cont’d Nuke studies, I think I should spend more time making sure that, entirely from my knowledge as currently developed, i can generate the pipelines that underlie the workflow. From the first semester, obviously it was helpful to receive the scripts with the pipelines already prepared for us, but perhaps the next important step is to assure that I am able to prepare these independently. Specifically, it is the conceptual flow of what is happening within the pipeline that is perhaps what is most important, thus my effort with this will generally be something that I draw, w a pen and paper (and then maybe photoshop), outside of the Nuke Node Graph (IMG below shows an effort from 1st semester).
