Sci-Fi Appearance for a "Facial Recognition Algorithm"
An additional manner in which to impart some degree of documentary format to the original EBS video is to include images of the scientists and psychologists whose research the video is based on. Internet images do exist for Paul MacLean, James Papez, Paul Ekman and Wallace Friesen, i.e. the main researchers whose efforts are conveyed in the EBS video. Simple insertion of screen shots for these people, however, would not resonate w the aesthetics of the video. Thus, different strategies for modifying the still photos will be used to create a 'look' reasonably consistent w the original video. One potential strategy involves a visual for a computer searching process for the scientist's faces (example on R). Another option may primarily oriented toward holographic like effects. This effect will transition to a simpler 'animated illustration' of the same individual, which then sets the stage for the following individuals to present merely as animated illustrations.

Sci-Fi Facial Scanning Effect: Hologram Tutorials
I watched 3 tutorials re AE implementation of a holographic effect. The most interesting was probably that done by Cinecom (Lil Nas 2019), which included an introduction summarizing the history of holograms. All the tutorials included glow and turbulent displace effects, summarized below.

Animated Illustrations: PS Trace Contour
The hologram-like effect will transition to animated illustrations similar to what I did in the second semester, but in this term, I didn't have access to an artist to draw the image for me! Fortunately, as per the 1st graphic below (on the L), I discovered the 'Trace Contour' effect in PS (which I never knew of until now). Acquiring images at selected serial slices allows for each acquisition to then be compiled as an animation. For example, as per the graphic on the R, the entire final IMG unfolds upon itself over the course of a couple seconds.

Week 11: Posting of 'Brain Waves from Outer Space'
The week after term end (wk of Dec 28) found me completing and posting the final-final version of the revision of EBS [entitled Brain Waves from Outer Space (BWfOS)]. In contrast to the EBS revision used for the survey, this will be the version that is used as my FMP (they are actually quite similar). The graphic below shows the key concept as developed throughout this term 4 blog. Specifically, MacLean's limbic system model (1949) is shown as a faded image within a ghost image of a full brain. The frame on the L identifies the components of the limbic system, which is then titled in the next frame. The neon blue text was used throughout the "binary code transmission" theme at the beginning and end of the BWfOS video.
As per the email 'screen shot' below (beneath the brain graphics), this wk also found me sending Dan Bartlett the current draft of my thesis for his review, -completion of which is very realistic by Jan 13 (i.e. to also dedicate a day to formatting).
